Distillation Chemist I

We Offer…

An exciting role as Second Shift Distillation Chemist I, based in Danbury, Connecticut. This function provides purification of organic chemicals using distillation techniques and related support systems. This involves a range of activities including:

  • Sets up and adjustment of distillation Equipment. May operate heating, cooling, vacuum and pressure systems.
  • Uses analytical equipment for assessing quality of distillation cuts and final products. Understands principles of operation of the equipment and, with supervision, interprets results.
  • Transport, weigh, mix and pump chemical materials.
  • Monitoring of process parameters to ensure product quality, yields and lot consistency.
  • Proper care, safety, maintenance and usage of technology, equipment, and/or systems.
  • May serve as a technical resource for Distillation Technician. 
  • Maintain all necessary production, safety, inventory, training, and other records and/or logs as required, in written and/or computer format.
  • Complies with all BRI environmental and safety policies and procedures.

You Offer…

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of distillation and analytical chemistry.
  • BS in Chemistry or related field and one to five years’ experience in distillation.
  • Ability to use interchangeably metric and U.S. standards of weights and measures and its application in determining molar quantity.
  • Skill in the operation of distillation and support equipment.
  • Knowledge of piping and valve operations to control processes.
  • Ability to conduct gas chromatographic analyses and interprets results.
  • Evaluate materials by odor.

Electrical & Instrumentation Technician

We Offer…

An exciting role as an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician, based in Danbury, Connecticut. This function provides electrical and technical support for the maintenance and engineering department. This involves a range of activities including:

  • Test, repair, maintain, and modify existing and new equipment, including electronic, vacuum, mechanical, and chemical apparatus.
  • May design, select, build, and program control equipment for specific project requirements or process improvements.
  • Adjust and/or calibrate components, production equipment, and control systems to improve overall efficiency and record all changes and their effect.
  • Develop prototypes for project requirements and/or process improvements.
  • Install factory wiring in both classified and non-classified areas.
  • May set up standard test apparatus to conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability.
  • Maintains an inventory of parts and supplies; orders materials as needed.
  • May operate machine tools to fabricate parts.
  • Maintains current knowledge relevant to state-of-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
  • Attend Engineering meetings for updates, priority list and future equipment planning/instillations.
  • Ensures proper care, safety and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Complies with all BRI environmental, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

You Offer…

  • High School Diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Ability to record and/or log equipment operational status.
  • Ability to identify and resolve system malfunctions and operational problems.
  • Ability to utilize, test, maintain and modify a range of engineering equipment and apparatus.
  • Ability to build and test engineering and/or scientific systems and components.
  • A working knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70 codes for general facility wiring.
  • Ability to install electrical conduit and proper wire sizing.
  • Ability to install general factory components such as plugs, switches, lights etc.
  • Knowledge of hazardous location requirements a plus.
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
  • Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions and manuals. Ability to write reports containing technical information.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
