Duties may include transporting, weighing, pumping, mixing, cooling, heating and analysis of various chemical substances, as well as process scale ups, and implementation of new processes and process improvements. This involves a range of activities including:

  • Sets up and adjusts chemical production equipment. Operates heating, cooling, vacuum and pressure systems.
  • Transports, weighs, mixes, and pumps chemical materials.           
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area.
  • May order equipment and/or raw materials.

Duties may also involve process scale ups, and implementation of new processes and process improvements as outlined by R&D. May be required to assist in training of new hires, as well as mentoring of Distillation staff.

This involves a range of activities including:

  • Adeptly sets up and adjusts distillation equipment. Will operate heating, cooling, and vacuum and pressure systems.
  • Transports, weighs, mixes, and pumps chemical materials.
  • Uses analytical equipment for assessing quality of distillation fractions and final products. Understands principles of operation of the equipment and can interpret results.
  • Serves as a technical authority and offers suggestions to modify in-process parameters to accommodate unexpected deviations from the norm.
  • Monitoring of process parameters to ensure product quality, yields and lot consistency.
  • Expected to assess sub-optimal distillation conditions, discuss and recommend corrective system parameters.

Ph.D. Research & Development Chemist Level III

We Offer…

An exciting role as Ph.D. Research Chemist Level III in our R&D Lab located in Danbury, Connecticut – Production Facility.

In this role you will design and conduct complex organic syntheses research, which requires in-depth knowledge of chemical applications. This position will conduct research and development activities involving analyses and evaluation of research data in support of an established chemical synthesis of existing and or new products. This function will also support production with technical and analytical assistance on an as needed basis.

This position covers a range of activities including: 

  • Designs and conducts experiments to improve existing or provide new synthetic pathways to current products as well as new materials.
  • Produces small scale batches of existing or new products. Provides analyses of results to management.
  • Conducts literature searches relevant to product and process development.
  • Keeps current with new technology, equipment, and/or systems, and related information.
  • Troubleshoots and provides support for in process production issues.
  • Sets up, operates, and maintains analytical and research equipment. Selects, modifies and/or adapts equipment or procedures as required.
  • Teaches, instructs, and/or up-dates others in research techniques and equipment usage. May provide functional direction to other chemists and/or technicians.
  • Ensures proper care, safety, maintenance and usage of technology, equipment.

 You Offer…

  • PhD degree from an accredited college or university with at least 5-10 years’ experience.
  • Experience in chemical organic synthesis is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles and techniques of synthetic organic chemistry as applied to the flavor, fragrance, and/or pheromone industry.
  • Ability to use independent judgment, self-direct, design, oversee, coordinate, and lead with regards to research projects.

Electrical & Instrumentation Technician

This function assists in installing and maintaining production instrumentation, electrical wiring, production control equipment, and related auxiliary systems under supervision. This function monitors production equipment and systems to determine operational status and troubleshoots system malfunctions.   • Test, repair, maintain, and modify existing and new equipment, including electronic, vacuum, mechanical, and chemical apparatus.
  • May design, select, build, and program control equipment for specific project requirements or process improvements.

  • Ability to record and/or log equipment operational status.
  • Ability to identify and resolve system malfunctions and operational problems.
  • Ability to utilize, test, maintain and modify a range of engineering equipment and apparatus.
  • Ability to build and test engineering and/or scientific systems and components.
  • A working knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70 codes for general facility wiring.
  • The ability to install electrical conduit and proper wire sizing.
  • The ability to install general factory components such as plugs, switches, lights etc.
  • Knowledge of hazardous location requirements a plus.

  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions and manuals. Ability to write reports containing technical information.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
