Project CIP Engineer

You Offer…

  • Gather input and collaborate with key stakeholders from Operation, Maintenance, EHS, R&D, IT to identify capital project improvements to address operational deficiencies, meet business opportunity needs and progress in improvement manufacturing technology and quality.
  • Maintain relationships and awareness with operations, quality, EHS of ongoing operation challenges and opportunities to develop future state capital projects.
  • Develop staged project deliverables to drive early project feasibility decision making with least effort by leading activities such as scope development, HAZOP, value stream mapping, goal deliberation, process flow diagrams, staged design reviews, component and system bid specifications and scope of work, conceptual estimates, project business case presentations and project charters.
  • Execute high quality low risk projects through development of piping and instrumentation diagrams, detail component specifications, layout diagrams, instrument specifications, automated control descriptions.
  • Utilize education foundations in fluid dynamics, heat transfer, process control and unit operations as well as 3rd party expertise in mechanical, civil, structural, electrical and regulator code compliance for design development, system analysis and design comparisons.
  • Manage project costs through progressive estimate development, competitive bid analysis, coordinate with vendors and subcontractors, project cost management and timely communication with stakeholders in finance and operations.
  • Promote strong stakeholder communication and awareness by means of staged project reviews, goal deliberation, detail design reviews, business case development collaboration, project commissioning and close out planning.
  • Promote innovation in capital improvements by ongoing relationships with equipment, instrumentation, systems vendors, participation in professional development in chemical engineering, instrumentation, automation and project management and dissemination of knowledge to stakeholders.
  • Support facility process automation through training, collaboration on design of new processed and migration of existing processes into PLC (Automation Direct) or DCS (DeltaV) through development of P&ID’s, control logic, sequential function charts, interlocks, alarms and execute control configuration of logic, HMI, alarms, interlocks, recipe based controls and historization.
  • Provide engineering expertise in the manufacturing support of role by working with operations, maintenance, EHS to diagnoses operational performance issues and recommend, design and deploy solutions.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

You offer…

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineering Licensure preferred.
  • Two to five years’ experience in chemical manufacturing capital project development, process engineering, and experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Use of AUTOCAD, ASPEN, proficiency in use of MS Project, Excel for design computational analysis of piping and unit operations. Experience in PLC/DCS control design and configuration.
  • Support in plan configuration upgrades or work in collaboration with 3rd party integrators.

Accounting Assistant – AP/AR

We Offer…

An exciting role as an Accountant Assistant based in our Danbury, Connecticut Production Facility. In this role you will be responsible for Accounts Receivable collections and Account Payable processing. In this function you will respond to inquiries and contact other departments and vendors to resolve a variety of problems. This role assists in the performance of various clerical duties.

This position covers a range of activities including: 

  • Reviews accounts receivable for overdue accounts and contacts customers for collections.
  • Processes customer credits for returned goods and pricing credits.
  • Data entry of daily accounts receivable payments into accounting system.
  • Data entry of customer sales invoices into customer portals.
  • Data entry of daily accounts payable into accounting system after securing all necessary documentation and approvals.
  • Reviews and processes for payments, purchase orders, invoices, statements and other check requests.
  • Verifies and posts payments checks and prepares ledger entries. Handles the resolution of account discrepancies.
  • Receives and reviews purchase orders, check requests and/or other related documentation for accuracy and compliance with financial policies, and contractual requirements.
  • Matches original invoices and requests for payment with purchase orders or check requests; performs calculations to determine appropriate payment schedules and amounts.
  • Reconciles various expenditure reports to source documents. Reviews credit card purchases and statements for accuracy, prepares and submits credit card activity to staff for review and reconciles activity to support documents.
  • Researches processing problems, contacts departments and vendors to resolve problems and expedite payments, and responds to inquiries by telephone or in writing.
  • Assign or edit general ledger code as relevant to sales tax paid or accrued, and by department for budgets. Reviews invoices and credits for accuracy prior to data entry.
  • Files and/or scans pertinent documents to support payment of invoices.
  • Assists Accounting Manager with all accounting procedures. Data entry of information used to prepare weekly and perpetual purchase report and other reports as needed.
  • Preparation of outgoing mail and sorting/distribution of incoming mail.

Maintenance Technician

Ph.D. Research & Development Chemist

An exciting role as Ph.D. Research Chemist in our R&D Lab located in Danbury, Connecticut – Production Facility. In this role you will develop, document, communicate and implement new or improved chemical processes for production at BRI using standard laboratory equipment, a reaction calorimeter, as well as standard analytical equipment such as a GC, DSC, and MS. This position covers a range of activities including: 

  • Researches and conducts experiments to improve the cost, safety and throughput of existing syntheses.
  • Proposes and conducts efficient and practical syntheses of new products.
  • Perform and summarize literature searches of chemical transformations pertaining to business interests.
  • Understand and apply concepts of Design of Experiments (DoE) methodology to identify critical process parameters and define permissible ranges.
  • Perform calorimetry studies and interpret the data in order to develop safe operating instructions.
  • Define specification limits of raw materials, intermediates, and final products.
  • Impurity identification using mass spectrometry.
  • Prepare and purify compounds as needed for analytical method development and reference standards.
  • Fully understand physical and chemical changes resulting from process conditions to define control needs to Production.
  • Execute responsibilities with a high degree of urgency and autonomy requiring minimal oversight by immediate manager.
  • Provide effective communication by summarizing findings through technical reports and presentations.
  • Develop, write, and edit SOPs as needed, ensuring valid and accurate information.
  • Work with Production team to identify continuous improvement opportunities around safety, quality, yield, and manufacturing cost that can be proven in lab, optimized, and implemented in Production.
  • Provide production support as needed to resolve process challenges.
  • Promote a safe work environment. For BRI chemistries, identify hazards and quantify potential impact of process deviations. Work with Production and Engineering departments to mitigate hazards as needed.
  • Report results, draw conclusions and make data-based recommendations to management and Production.
