Research Chemist Level III

We Offer…

An exciting role as Research Chemist Level III in our R&D Lab based in our Danbury, Connecticut Production Facility. This function involves complex organic syntheses research which requires in-depth knowledge of chemical applications.  Conducts research and development activities involving analyses and evaluation or research data in support of an established chemical synthesis of existing or new products.  Identifies issues, and conflicts, analyzes and recommends solutions.  This position covers a range of activities including: 

  • Designs and conducts experiments to improve existing or provide new synthetic pathways to current products as well as new materials.
  • Produces small scale batches of existing or new products.  Provides analyses of results to management.
  • Conducts literature searches relevant to product and process development.
  • Keeps current with new technology, equipment, and/or systems, and related information.
  • Sets up, operates, and maintains analytical and research equipment.  Selects, modifies and/or adapts equipment or procedures as required.
  • Teaches, instructs, and/or up-dates others in research techniques and equipment usage.
  • May provide functional direction to other chemists and/or technicians.
  • Ensures proper care, safety, maintenance and usage of technology, equipment.
  • Participates in process design; and develops research protocol.
  • Complies with all BRI environmental and safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

You Offer…

  • PhD degree from an accredited college or university with at least 10 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Experience in organic specialty chemicals and or the flavor and fragrance industry.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Skill in the operation of laboratory equipment used for analysis, synthesis, and distillation.
  • Strong teamwork and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to use independent judgement, self-direct, design, oversee, coordinate, and lead with regards to research projects.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.

Sales Representative, Asia

We Offer…

An exciting role as Asian Sales Representative, based in Danbury, Connecticut in our Sales Department. This function provides sales support in Asia and the United States. This involves a range of activities including: 

  • At least three months minimum travel required in Asia.
  • Identifying and contacting prospective clients as well as servicing existing accounts.
  • Responsible for multinationals, including visiting purchasing, R&D, and creative for Flavor and Fragrance demonstrations.
  • Identify opportunities and execute strategy for growth as well as obtain competitive information.
  • Ensuring quality and consistency of service and product delivery.
  • Responsible for agents and customer visits, providing Flavor and Fragrance demonstrations. 
  • Preparing a variety of status reports, including activity, follow-up, and adherence to goals.
  • Managing a defined customer base and developing new business opportunities.
  • Coordinate internally with the BRI Sales team and other departments.
  • Provide updates on special developments, information and feedback gathered through sales activity.

You Offer…

  • Experience and education in organic/specialty chemicals.
  • 3-5 years+ of experience that is directly related to flavor and fragrance sales.
  • Bachelor degree in a science field preferred.
  • Demonstrated use of excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong drive for results and customer focus.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent MS Office skills.

Reactor Room Chemist Level I

We Offer…

An exciting role as First or Second Shift Reactor Room Chemist Level I, based in Danbury, Connecticut. This function provides processing operations related to production of organic chemicals using synthetic chemical methods and related support systems. This involves a range of activities including: 

  • Sets up and adjusts chemical production equipment. Operates heating, cooling, and vacuum and pressure systems.
  • Transports, weighs, mixes, and pumps chemical materials.
  • Proper monitoring of processing steps to ensure product quality, lot consistency and yields.
  • May calculate materials needed for reaction.
  • Controls process parameters through proper adjustments of feed rates, cooling and/or heating.
  • Uses analytical equipment for assessing in-process and final product status. Understands principles of operation of the analytical equipment and, with supervision, interprets results.
  • May prepare test results or reports as directed.
  • Maintains an organized and clean work area.
  • May order equipment and/or raw materials.
  • Maintains all necessary production, safety, inventory, training and other records and/or logs as required, in written and/or computer format.
  • Complies with all BRI environmental and safety policies and procedures.

You Offer…

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of organic and analytical chemistry.
  • BS in Chemistry or related field and one to five years’ experience in chemical production work.
  • Ability to use interchangeably metric and U.S. standards of weights and measures and its application in determining molar quantities.
  • Knowledge of piping and valve operations to control processes.
  • Ability to conduct gas chromatographic analyses and interprets results.
  • Skill in the operation of chemical production equipment.
  • Skill in the use of physical and chemical analyses and interpretation of results.
