The BedoukianBio team joined thousands of other insect science professionals as they met in November for Entomology 2024, the annual meeting of the Entomological Society of America (ESA). At the meeting, attendees shared ideas, as well as scientific and technical data about the vital role that insects provide to our ecosystem.
The ESA Annual meeting was held in the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona from November 10-13, 2024 and had the theme of “Empowering Tomorrow with Insect Science”. The event enabled attendees from all over the world to connect with leading experts, researchers, and professionals in the field. Bedoukian participated in a symposium and also maintained a booth at the event.
Bedoukian’s Entomological Project Manager, Rodrigo Oliviera da Silva, participated in the symposium for “Mating Disruption for Control of Insect Pests” on Sunday November 10. This symposium was organized and moderated by Mr. Rolando Alegria, CEO ATGC Biotech and Dr Muniappan Rangaswamy USAID IPM, Virginia Tech. Rodrigo’s gave a talk about “combining kairomones and pheromones in monitoring lures and mating disruption”. The symposium was well-attended and the talk well-received.
In addition to the numerous talks and presentations during the event, a large exhibit hall was open during the event filled with a variety of companies and organizations related to entomology. A booth was dedicated to BedoukianBio and, along with information on the pheromone and semiochemicals Bedoukian offers, the company also used this opportunity to demonstrate new tools added to BedoukianBio.com that make it easier for researchers to obtain Bedoukian’s top-quality insect management products.
An interactive catalog was added to BedoukianBio.com this past year. This new tool allows users to sort Bedoukian products and use filters to easily identify the semiochemicals that relate to the area of research for the user. A new Product Quote System on BedoukianBio.com was also demonstrated. This feature allows users to obtain pricing and order online the Bedoukian semiochemicals that the user wants for their research. Those who experienced the new site features felt that they were very useful.
Rodrigo da Silva commented on the ESA event, “There is nothing else quite like the ESA Annual Meeting. Having us all together in one place makes it easy to meet with many Entomology professionals. The event expands our knowledge as we learn from experts in the field, and it provides a great opportunity to share new information from BedoukianBio.”
